The Grace Fund
The memory of Bill Sinfield’s daughter Grace lives on, in the works he’s accomplished and the scholarship in her honor.
Earlier this year, in appreciation of Bill Sinfield’s contributions as Sandia Prep’s ninth Head of School, a group of parents, alumni and friends of the School gave him a retirement gift to cherish the rest of his life. More than $205,000 was raised to substantially add to The Grace Sinfield Scholarship Fund, which supports students who need additional assistance so they can fully participate in the Sandia Prep experience.
In 2015, just four months into his job as Sandia Prep’s new Head of School, Bill and his wife Brenda faced the unbearable loss of their daughter Grace, when she was just 20-years-old. Despite his grief—and with diligence and class—Bill went about his charge to restore a sense of community and financial health to Sandia Prep. Today, our School is flourishing and enjoys a culture familiar to generations of alumni and current families alike.
The endowment was originally formed in 2016 to honor Grace’s memory. Since its inception, there have been many examples of how The Grace Fund has contributed to the lives of Sandia Prep students, including emergency short-term monthly tuition payments for students whose parents experienced job-loss; uniforms, shoes, and equipment for student-athletes in need; and food and travel expenses for attendance in national arts and athletics competitions.
With community momentum and support fostered by Bill’s then-imminent retirement, he and Brenda were presented with the gift of a fully-funded endowment at Prep's Noche de Celebración gala on Saturday, April 23.
